Chain Assemblage

Assemblage is an unlikely combination of objects, here the objects are a chain and a woman’s body. Passing through trauma can ravage, wound, scar and forever alter the body and sense of self. Eventually there has to be a reentry into the damaged quarters. To symbolize this reentry one chain appears, two ends at either pole. At one end the old and gone, at the other end the new resignation and assimilation. The chain serves as a tool in ritual, symbolic of clawing back control.
